The Astrological Series of Boxes takes its inspiration from imagery surrounding the belief that the position of the sun, moon, and stars may influence human beings and determine our interaction with the world around us. There is something magical and mystical about our relationship to the cosmos and its potentially profound effect on us.
Virgo is represented as the virgin: careful, inquisitive, and charming. Virgoans provide structure and perfection to life. To the world, they present a calm and collected exterior, but on the interior, they are analytical and pensive. The future is a large focus for Virgos, who tend to plan and work towards their goals. They are pure and their motives are honest, bringing opposing energies down to earth and grounding them.

MICHAEL IS HIGHLY INSPIRED BY HIS SURROUNDINGS AND OFTEN MAKES SCULPTURES OF OBJECTS THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE BE OVERLOOKED IN THE EVERYDAY. NATURE IS HIS BIGGEST MUSE, AS IS THE HANDMADE PROCESS.
Trained as a painter, sculptor, and art historian, Michael has neatly applied his diverse background to the decorative arts.
Nature is his biggest muse, as is the handmade process. His work combines the imperfections innate in the handmade process.
Today, over 200 artisans work alongside him in his workshop where the same creative interaction between artist and artisan remains.
